The future of automobiles will be a new landscape, you'll still be able to to do all of your favorite things while driving but in a car that always knows where it is and in a car that heals it's self.
Your car will tell you if your going to be late to your destination and upon your request can make appropriate phone calls and let the people know. It can communicate with other vehicles and for a fee between you and other cars around you, you could pay your way to getting to your destination quicker ~ Paying other vehicles to move out of your way.
Another feature of the auto matrix is that Every vehicle will be equipped with smart tires, these smart tires will be important so your vehicle can communicate with the car in front of you or behind you to let them know about the pot hole in the road. The information will in turn be sent to a municipal grid that will inform all vehicles in the area of the pot hole. The auto matrix, A wireless car built with micro technology and circuity so small it's built on top of individual atoms and molecules and each molecule would represent 1~bit of information. When each molecule represents a bit of information we enter a world of sub-atomic computers, computers smaller than atoms.
The Automotive industry would be one of the first commercial applications for all forms of nanotechnology. In 10-20 years a car would have embedded electronic elements and nano circuits by the billions embedded into the surface. So now each vehicle basically has an electronic skin which will sense it's environment and will detect any damage to it's self such as a scratch to the paint and even heal it's self, similar to how a human can feel a scratch.
With the auto matrix your car will become a forum for social networking. By communicating with other cars we will now be able to communicate with other people on the road who may share similar interests. Upon your request your car becomes a match maker based on your personal profile, it locates nearby drivers who are potential business and social contacts.
With the auto matrix you will be able to share music with the other cars around you, your car is an entartainment and social center.
